What is shared energy?

Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2018 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources. Shared energy corresponds to the amount of generated renewable energy that is consumed by the energy community members within a time slot of fixed duration.

How do you calculate shared energy?

The i-th member's shared energy ( SEi) is calculated by multiplying the SE by the user's Owi factor, which represents the ownership share of a RES power plants by the i-th EC member. In general, the Owi factor can change from user to user, or between different categories of members, e.g., consumer vs owners.

How does EC share energy?

In the first round, the shared energy is attributed primarily to owners-members. If any available RES energy is left over from the first round, it is shared equally among all the EC members in the second step. With this allocation mechanism, an owner member can obtain Token currency for both financing and self-consumption services.
